MN Taiko artisans include:
Steve Lein: Drums
Steve's interest in taiko building grew out of a 30-year hobby of constructing wooden boats. Steve's latest projects include a cedar strip kayak. In 1999 Steve started building taiko drums and has enjoyed the challenge of applying his woodworking skills to a less mainstream (and much louder) medium. He dreams of building a four-foot diameter odaiko.
Rachel Gorton: Drums
While living in Japan, Rachel was exposed to a rich taiko environment and fell in love with the power and the beauty of taiko. Since 1999 she has played with Minneapolis based Mu Daiko. Shortly after, she began teaching and building taiko.
Dave Beyer: Stands
Dave has over 20 years of carpentry experience and enjoys "creating" with his hands. His quality stands are enjoyed by both professionals and individuals.
